Configure Windows Client Storage

Welcome to the show, Wes. Hey, thanks for having me here. Yeah. My name is Wes Bryan. I'm an edutainer at ACI Learning and IT Pro, and I've been teaching technical courses for the better part of a decade. Microsoft Certified Trainer, I hold MCSA and some of the other certifications that have gone by the wayside. But I definitely have a lot of experience in teaching just in the Windows environment. So I'm looking forward to just being your subject matter expert, the edutator that is going to take you through this journey as we proceed through the course. I have to say I'm really excited because this is a topic that I'm excited to delve into, but what are we going to be talking about, Wes? All right. So this course is going to be all about how you, the learner, can configure Windows Client Storage. We're going to show you the utilities, the tools, the concepts to create, configure, and manage Windows Client Storage. In this, we're going to use a variety of tools. We're going to walk you through the majority of the tools that you have available that you can use, utilize in order to accomplish that task. We'll look at GUI-based utilities like things like the Windows Settings Interface, which has definitely had some changes between some of the Windows operating systems. We're going to look at things like disk management, something that we've been using for a very long time in Windows environments to configure our storage on our machines. We're also going to use and drop down to, we're going to remove the GUI, we're going to go down into the command line interfaces such as the Windows command prompt and the Windows PowerShell in order to show you how you can do this through a command line environment as well all here in this course. It sounds like a jam-packed course, but who is this course designed for? Well, anybody really. There are some scopes here. If you could be one that's taken, maybe you're taking some kind of Windows exam. Well, these can give you some of the skills that are sometimes measured in those exams, but you could be part of the support staff. Maybe you're a part of the help desk. Maybe you want to know some of the features that you have available so that you can resolve those tickets faster. You can help the end users that you're supporting currently in your environment. Maybe you're curious. Maybe you just wanted to level up some of your skills. Do you want to take your skills a little bit farther inside of a Windows environment? You're not taking an exam and you're not on a help desk environment. It's for you as well. Beginners, maybe you aren't familiar with Windows at all, but you'd like to be because you know that's the next avenue maybe in a promotion. Maybe you're just curious and you want to see how to do it. This is going to be the course for you. However, I will tell you there is a small bit of assumed knowledge. The assumptions here that we're going to make is that you do have an understanding of computing environments and some of the computing technology terminology. I'm not worried about the Windows specific stuff. We'll help you out with that, but some of the basics that across the industry, regardless of what operating system you're in. You also have to know a little bit about networking and networking communications things in general. It's going to be important that you have a concept because when we talk about storage, we're not going to be just doing local storage. You're going to see there are episodes here where we're going to tell you how you can create shared storage like WYSTO, all here in this course. Well, this sounds exciting for me. I've been a Mac user, so I'm excited to jump into the Windows client and see how that works. But I'm excited about this. What are you excited for? Well, I've worked in with Windows for a long time. I've had Mac OS as a driver too, and I like that operating system. I really like working in Windows and I have for a while. It's not the only operating system I use, but one of the things I love is the ability to help our learners to navigate through, configure one of the most popular, if not the most popular enterprise level operating system, whether it's in a home environment, a small office business environment, or even at the enterprise level. I love being able to convey the concepts, show you the technologies and the steps in order to configure your Windows client storage so that you can be more successful in your endeavors.
